What is artificial leather

What material is artificial leather? There are several types of leather on the market, including cowhide, pigskin, artificial leather, and deerskin used by some international brands. Today we focus on talking about artificial leather and see what characteristics artificial leather has!
Artificial leather refers to synthetic leather or other leather-like products, which are actually artificially synthesized products from basic chemical raw materials. Artificial leather, also called imitation leather or rubber, is a general term for artificial materials such as PVC and PU. It is made by foaming or laminating various formulas such as PVC and PU on a textile cloth base or non-woven fabric base. Patterns and other requirements are processed and have the characteristics of a wide variety of colors, good waterproof performance, neat borders, high utilization rate, and cheaper price than real leather, but most artificial leather, its feel, and elasticity cannot reach the effect of real leather; it's longitudinal On the cut surface, fine air bubbles, cloth or surface films, and dry man-made fibers can be seen.
Artificial leather can be divided into 3 categories according to different components: PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PE (polyethylene), PU (polyurethane), and their chemical products are also different.
The surface of artificial leather is very delicate, it can be flawless, and it is more durable, but there are certain defects in breathability and other aspects.
Features of artificial leather:
1. The thickness is uniform, the surface is smooth, there is no natural defect, the pores and patterns are also very uniform, and there is generally no fuzz in the leather.
2. The texture is uniform, with no damage, no rough lines, and no defects.
3. Water absorption and elasticity are not obvious.
4. The hand feels like plastic, the recovery is poor, and the thickness of the folds is similar after bending.
5. Strong plastic smell, no fur smell.
6. After burning, the flame is strong, shrinks rapidly, and has an unpleasant plastic smell. It becomes sticky after burning, and it will harden and become lumps after cooling.
The combustion products of artificial leather materials, such as chlorine compounds, chlorine gas, nitrogen compounds, and other components are harmful to human health. Therefore, we cannot just incinerate these man-made materials.
